My guys and gals

We have sunshine for the first time in several weekends.  Mind you, I am not complaining about the rain.  I will never again complain about the rain.  But it is nice to see the sunshine and my friends are enjoying themselves.  Even Princess Abby is laying out in the sun.  It has been too wet to cut the grass and with no lawn grass, I have the winter grass coming up and getting pretty tall--about 6 to 8 inches.  Jock and Duncan are having a ball running through it.  Daisey joins in, but she is too big to play with them and scares them.  I keep Missy and her together and they really enjoy playing in the sunshine.  I'll have to give up and cut the grass around Monday.  I wish I could leave it, but it will start to die real soon.  Hopefully, I did not lose any trees last summer.  They all seem to be putting on new buds.  However, I am afraid they can't survive another summer like last summer in Texas.  I am not sure I can.  I would lay awake planning how I would evacuate my animals if necessary.  I have decided to buy a cargo van just for that purpose.  I won't be caught where I have to leave them.  I was also afraid to go to sleep last summer because I was afraid of wildfire.  Everyone was on edge because we were all affected by the wildfires.  Wildfires are a great equalizer.  The fire does not care if you are rich or poor, live in the country or the city. It is equal opportunity destruction.

My guys

My guys have gotten very need since I returned to work.  My evenings are spent cuddling and petting my friends.  Even Daisy needs this cuddling.  Jock and Duncan are asleep on my bed right now.  Abby is on the cushion on the cedar chest waiting for me to go to bed.  Life is good with these guys.  All they ever ask for is food and love and they give it back tenfold.  Duncan is going to see Dr. Don next week  I am worried about not being able to eradicate the whip worms.  I know they are hard to get rid of, but I have been treating him for almost 6 months so I am afraid something is going on.  Keep your fingers crossed that he is ok.

Missing my babies

It has been kinda lonely since I took my granddogs to my son.  I really miss them.  Jock does not.  He gets all the cuddling he wants now and he is making up for lost time.  Every time I sit down, he is on my lap.  He has missed me while Kenny, Joey and Bella were here.  I am making it up to Duncan and him.  And they are loving it.  I did not intend to invite two more little dogs to live with me.  When I lost my Max 3 years ago, I did not intend to get another dog.  I only had Missy and Abby, both getting old.  I did not want the hurt of losing another friend.  However, when my son brought me Jock, bloody and scared, I could not turn my back.  I am so glad he has come into my life.  Daisy came next.  She is a never ending delight as well as very frustrating.  I can't break her from the barking because it is just sheer delight in life.  Even Duncan is fitting in.  He demands attention and greets me barking like crazy.  No more crab walking.  He struts around with that tail in the air.  Yep.  I do love my friends.

My granddogs

I took my little granddogs to meet my son this past Sunday.  They had not seen him in 4 months and it was beautiful.  My 6'2" 200 pound son sitting on the ground whispering to these little dogs and Kenny in his arms just looking up at him.  He has really missed them and they missed him.  I am glad they are home now even though I miss them.  I am really proud of my children.  All of them love animals and have a great deal of empathy.  I taught them well.  Animals love you no matter what and all they ask is love me, feed me, pet me. My little guys miss them.  They have been looking for them since I got back.  Every time the front door is opened, Abby and Jock run out and look for them.  It will take awhile but we will get back in the swing of things.

Duncan

Ok, so Dr. Don thinks something else may be going on with Duncan.  I don't know.  Seems like when I give him the meds for whipworms, it clears up a little.  Then approximately 2 1/2 weeks later, he is sick again.  Anyway, I have already given him the meds for 2 days.  One more day will complete the dosage cycle.  I am going to wait until next week to allow the meds to get out of his system, then I will take him in for testing to see what is going on.

Duncan

Duncan is still my biggest problem.  I cannot get rid of the whipworms!  I am giving him the meds every three months, but they just keep coming back.  My vet told me I could not effectively treat the yard.  I clean the floors with clorox.  I wash his beds in hot water.  I am at a loss.  Guess I'll call Dr. Don today and see if he can help me out.  I feel so sorry for the little guy.  When the new ones hatch out, he is so sick and he hates eating his food with the medicine in it.  Gotta be a better way.

Not liking the water.

I opened the door this morning to let the little guys out.  Kenny stopped on the threshold, looked at all that water and tried to run back to the bedroom.  I made him go outside with the others.  When they came in, I was ready with towels and I needed them. So we have tracked mud in all day.  Abby would hide from me so she didn't have to go outside.  She would get on the couch with my graddaughter and hide under her quilt.

Fear of the storm

Our drought ended here in my part of Texas last night.  We had wind, hail, rain, lots of rain.  I have seen one report that we got 10 inches in about 3 hours.  Don't know if that is right, but I believe it.  Around 6:30pm, we had a weather bulletin that there was a tornado on the ground.  Looking at the line forecast, I was right in the path. So I rounded all the little guys up and put them in one bathroom.  I put Missy and Daisy in the dining room which is in the center of the house and I put the cats in my closet.  Then I went outside to watch for the tornado.  Didn't stay long.  That rain was coming down sideways.  To make a long story short, Missy, Daisy and the cats were ok with where they were.  Missy and Daisy were scared.  Not so for the little guys.  They were furious that I had stuck them in the bathroom.  Well, we were under the warning for about an hour.  No tornado here, but we did have lots of hail.  Streets were flooded.  My son came back to my house with the kids rather than try to get to his house.  Around 1am, it started up again, no tornadoes though.  Bella, Kenny and Joey were frightened by the lightening.  So I am trying to sleep with all three in bed with me and as close as they can get.  I was glad for the rain, but those little guys and Missy and Daisy were really scared.

My guys and girls

I have been a little lax in posting lately.  My little friends take all my free time.  My son's little guys and girl are really needy.  They don't know where they belong.  They haven't seen him in 4 months.  Bella especially is needy.  She takes a lot of attention and loving.  She snuggles under my arm at night.  Even Abby cuts her slack.  She lets her have my attention.  They will be going home next week.  I can't wait to see them when they spot my son.  They will be so excited.
