My friends
I realized today that I could happily spend my days with just my little friends and my yard. I would not miss human companionship at all. My babies have all gone to bed. They are so glad to see me when I get home. Abby goes back to see Dr. Don next week. I so hope that her heart murmer is under control I know she is 13 and I will; not have her long, but it is so going to hurt when I lose her. She is my buddy. She was there to lick away the tears during the hard times. She has traveled to Arkansas with me. She has traveled to Colorado with me. She and Max were and are my best friends.

Duncan
I still marvel at this little guy. When I first got him, he was scared when we picked him up. He would just crawl around us. He didn't know what a bed was. Now he is a totally different dog. He wants to be picked up and held and cuddled. Today when I was out back with them, he lost sight of me and headed for the gate to wiggle out and find me. I was watching him and called his name. He turned around and came running to me to be picked up. I picked him up and hugged him, then he was ready to get down and explore some more. He is now asleep on my bed. It never ceases to amaze me how animals can just give unconditional love and acceptance. It's like "just love me." Our four legged creatures are truly the best part of the animal kingdom. Humans are like locusts. They move in and destroy everything, then move on to something else. They remind me of the creatures in Independence Day. I think maybe we have it all backwards. I think that the animals are the ones with a direct path to the Pearly Gates and mankind will have to swirl in limbo to make up for what they have done to our planet.

Daisy
Daisy has a new friend! One of this year's crop of squirrels is residing in my trees. It is so small it can't weigh more than a pound. It comes down on the lower limbs and hisses and spits at Daisy. Daisy sits under that tree and gazes up at it. She is so hopeful that it will just jump down into her mouth. I had the cats outside the other day and Sally was trying to sneak up to the tree. I caught her before she made a beeline up that tree. She would probably have gotten that little guy. I am now in the process of designing and building a catatat for my cats. I will post diagrams and pics after I get it done. They want outside and I want them outside. As it stands now, I am busy growing herbs for them. I keep pots of basil and mint growing for them. Also, oats. Oats are what the pet stores sell as cat grass. I'll still have to grow the herbs for them, but I can sew the oats directly in their run. I am really excited about this.
