Duncan
Duncan was sick last night. He was throwing up but just liquid. This morning and tonight he refused to eat. I boiled chicken for him and he turned it down. I will give him till next week. If he doesn't start eating, I will assume it is time and I will let him go. Those times are the very hardest for me. I know I give them good lives, but I'm left without them. It hurts.

It is official
My granddaughter's cat came to live with me because she could not get along with the other cats in my son's home. She is a muted tortise shell about a year old. She carried an old soft houseshoe up on my computer desk and put it behind my monitor and that is her place. And when I am working or just playing on the computer, she is on my mousepad and usually on my mouse. I wind up with some really weird web sites. She sleeps on my keyboard when I am at work. I know because I have to clean the cat hair out of it. I use a lot of canned air. But she is a really sweet cat. I still have Picasso. He is 17 and the last of Sally's kittens. It has been 3 years since I lost Sally and I lost Spats and Van this spring within a week of each other. They were with me their whole lives. I made sure they had good lives. I won't have Picasso much longer and I am afraid I won't have Duncan much longer either. Even Jock is 10. Time flies.
Been really busy
Over the last several weeks, I have been really busy so all my time is either taken up by work or my buddies. I come home from work and spend several hours outside with Honey and Jock. Duncan is blind and mostly deaf and I think he has had a stroke, but he is still my baby. Every night I have to sit in a chair in the living room and hold him on my lap. When he gets tired of that, usually in about an hour, then he is ready to go to bed and that means I have to move to the bedroom to sew or read or whatever because I cannot leave him in bed by himself. I have beds all over the house for him. He used to prefer my bathroom because it was quiet and away from any commotion in the house. Now he has moved to the living room. He has a bed under my desk, memory foam 5 inches thick covered with fleece.
Of course Jock shares these beds. Honey stays mostly in the dining room with her 4x6 foot bed. Duncan is afraid of her, not that she would ever hurt him. But he is afraid so while Duncan is on the floor, Honey is kept separate. At night, Honey has the run of the house and her bed is my grandson's bed. She loves it. She is the sweetest dog. She found one of my huge skinks in the yard yesterday. It really frightened her but only for a few minutes, then she was ready to investigate it. It was already gone though. She and the squirrel have and uneasy truce. She only chases him when she is bored. And he only teases when he is bored. All in all, I love my life with my furry friends.
