Post sinus infection
Abby's meds showed up today. And I thought I had enough energy to take her and Missy into see Dr. Don. Nope. I did a little bit around the house and I am back on the couch. My little guys are happy to have me at home. Jock and Duncan are asleep on the bed and Abby is on her cushion on the cedar chest. I went out earlier to go to the bank. You would have thought I was deserting them forever. I went to get some cash so I can get them some fresh veggies this afternoon. The booth will be set up in the parking lot of the health clinic down the street from me. I usually buy them fresh carrots, tomatoes and sweet bell peppers every week. They love them. Last week, I bought fresh sweet potatoes. I boil them, chop them fine and add them to their food. My guys eat pretty good. I can't wait till my sweet peas are ready. Daisy loves them straight off the vine.

Missy and Abby
Abby is out of heart meds and hers did not come in the mail today. If I have to go to Navasota tomorrow to get them, I will just take her and Missy with me. Missy has developed that same cough that Abby has and I am afraid she is developing a heart murmur. My old girls. Both are 13 and both have been with me since they were babies.

Jock
My granddaughter did not come over this weekend. Jock waits all week for her. He adores her. So now he is needing more attention. He climbed in my lap last night on the couch and had to be snuggled. When I went to bed, he curled up next to my head on my pillow and spent the night as close to me as he could get. He really is a sweet little guy. Duncan has my pillow right now and Jock is in my lap.

Mystery solved
I have one of the pets water bowls in the hall. I have been having a problem with finding a lot of water on the floor and could not figure out how it was getting there. I switched out water bowls because I thought maybe this one has a crack and is leaking even though I could see no crack. But it was happening with any bowl I sat there. Ok, no one was urinating in or on it. That has happened. Duncan has been known to pee in the water bowl. Nope. Not that. Well just a few minutes ago I solved the mystery. Colleen, my strange kitty, was drinking out of this bowl. She would put her face near the opposite edge to where she was sitting. Then she would lap the water. Well she is lapping the water against the opposite side of the bowl and flinging it into the floor. Guess that water bowl will sit on a piddle pad from now on. And this cat will not use the fountains I bought for them. She is really strange. She is the last of the three that I found under a bush in a puddle of water when they were a week old. My daughter and her friend raised the three of them on an eyedropper after Dr. Don had told her she could not do it. All three lived and all three are weird. Sylvester developed liver disease at a fairly young age. General Lee could not tolerate other cats. And Colleen, well, she doesn't like you to touch her. She just wants to be near me, but I can't touch her. But she has had a good life. She is now 12 years old.
Abby
Time to take Abby back to see Dr. Don. I think she is doing ok, but I want him to see her. It has been a few months since she was diagnosed with heart trouble and she needs a follow up. She won't like it and I really hate to do that to her. When I put her in the car and about half way there, she just starts shaking horribly. I know she is scared, but she does need this check-up. I have been just putting her in the car and riding her around to maybe help with this fear, but she seems to know the difference between a ride and a trip to the doctors. Hopefully she will be fine. I know that I will lose her in the not to distant future. She is 13 years old. But I am not nor will I be ready, but I will be there for her. I will always be there for her.

Post Thanksgiving with my guys and girls
My guys and girls got their turkey this morning. They loved it. I have had everyone outside today, even the cats. My cats love to go outside. But they are at the door to come in when I say,"Come on, let's go in." Do not even have to call the cats twice. Abby and Duncan, however, come when they are ready. Sometimes Abby just sits down and waits for me to come get her. I have also discovered that Duncan gets cold easily. I am now busy making jackets for him. Jock will absolutely not wear a sweater or jacket. But he has a really thick coat. Abby will let me put a sweater on her if it is really cold (really cold for Texas), but not before. If she is not cold, she will not let me put that sweater on. Funny how a tiny 6 pound dog can curl into a growling, snapping ball of fur.
It's 20 minutes till dinner. Daisy will bark at me for those 20 minutes. She is so sweet when I get hers ready. She goes to her place in front of the sink and sits so nicely. This after she has driven me mad with the barking and nipping. Those teeth hurt and she uses them to pinch with. Guess I'll feed a little early. They have earned it.

Fiona Apple
I do not have a clue who this woman is nor have I ever listened to any of her music. However, as of today, I am a dedicated fan and will always be. I hope everyone saw the posting to her site about the cancellation of her South American tour. She cancelled the tour to be with her aging pit bull who is dying and she was going to be with her when she left. I love this woman. And I know exactly how she feels. It's like losing your compass, the core of who you are, and your best friend. It hurts. It hurts bad, but it is something you do because this friend has always been there for you, never judged, never betrayed, never turned her back on you. And she is irreplaceable.

Day is done
I'm headed for bed with my little ones. Duncan and Jock are already asleep in my bed, or should I say their bed that they let me share. Abby is on her pillow on the cedar chest waiting for me to shut down the computer. As soon as I shut out the light, she will be in bed also. Everyone got a bath today. Duncan and Jock are so white it is difficult to see them on the white sheets. I always thought Abby was a really light colored poodle until she is next to those guys. Duncan was easy to comb out as soon as he was dry and so was Abby. Jock was a different story. He has the curliest hair and the thickest. It took me over an hour to get him combed out and that was only the hair on his head and ears and tail. I keep him clipped pretty close. I refuse to have any of them with long hair. I think that is just stupid. Ok, good night.

Getting my exercise
Daisy just called for another looksee outside. At least this time she stayed outside. Duncan is scratching on my leg to be put on the day bed. He can't jump up there. Jock can and Abby can, but Duncan does not know how to jump. He won't even try to jump in the back door and that step is only 4 inches high. Well, back to the back door. Daisy has discovered runners and is waking the neighborhood and telling them all about it. I swear, I never knew Dobermans talked, but she sure does. And loud too. However, I must admit that Duncan is as loud as Daisy. I cannot for the life of me figure out how such a loud noise comes out of that little dog's mouth. He can almost shatter your eardrums. Right now he is king of the daybed.
Spending money
Headed for the grocery store. Gotta have that cat food and dog food. I may not eat, but my babies will. I put the cats on a mostly canned diet. Worked wonders with the hairball problem. Now if I can just get my catatat built. My kitties so want to be outside and I will not just turn them lose. My plans are to have them their own run outside. Workin on it.
Another day in paradise
Daisy woke me up at 3am. Didn't want anything in particular. Just wanted to go outside and look around and sniff. So we all trek outside, me barefoot and it is cold, well for Texas that is. We trek back inside. Daisy goes to her bed. Missy goes to her bed and my little guys trek back to our bed. I put Abby up first, then Duncan, then Jock. Well, Duncan gets on my pillow and Abby not to be outdone, pushes him off and out of the way. She then takes up residence on my pillow. Duncan takes up residence right next to her and Jock in the middle of the bed. So I looked at this arrangement for a minute and "Ok, guys, I gotta get in here." I move Abby and Jock. Abby gets huffy and turns her back on me. As soon as I get under the covers, she is not huffy anymore. She burrows down under the covers. They let me sleep till 5 am. Then here goes Daisy again. It is breakfast time and she wants her breakfast. So, I am up for good on a Saturday at 5am. Love my life.

Halloween is over
We are through with Halloween for another year. I had to hide the candy from Jock. If he can get to it, he will eat it. I had a candy dish on the coffee table when I first got him. I had a few pieces of candy in int. I think I had peppermint drops, not more than 3 or 4 drops left. He climbed onto the coffee table and ate the peppermints. Since then, I leave nothing where he can get it. Duncan, on the other hand, can't jump onto anything My back step is about 6 inches high and he will not try to jump from that step into the door. I have to reach down and pick him up every time. Not Abby and Jock. That door opens and they shoot out. They don't touch the step, they jump over it. No one would guess that Abby is 13 with a heart murmur. I was talking to my sister last night while I was feeding them. Abby jumps and dances and barks like crazy. My sister asked if that was Daisy making all that noise. No, it's Abby. She couldn't believe me. "I thought Abby had heart disease." she said. "She does but it does not slow her down." I answered. All in all, they make me very happy. And I love them so much.

Halloween
I have not been posting because I have been making Halloween costumes for my grandchildren. These were quite challenging costumes. My grandson was Kung Fu Panda. I could find no patterns for that costume. So I had to wing it. It took me a week to get it right. But he looked great. My granddaughter was a tigress. We already had the tiger costume from last year. I added a shiny vest. Their dad did the face paint and as usual he was great with it. They really had good time.
I took them trick-or-treating around the neighborhood and my son stayed at my house and gave out goodies to the other trick-or-treaters. He has as much fun as did the kids. Because of my little guys and all the kids wanting to pet them, he moved a rocker to the driveway and gave out candy from there. My little guys did not like all those people coming into their yard. They defended the house from the window. They were so cute sitting in the window and keeping a keen eye on all that went on.
