See what I found.

I had put suet cakes in the bird bath for the birds this spring.  My resident squirrel, the one that stole all my pecans, enjoyed the suet cakes.  He also stole the pine cones I was planning to use as Christmas ornaments.  And he is the fattest squirrel I have ever seen.  Jock just knows he can catch him.

Trouble with my computer

I have pictures of my squirrel who owns the yard, but my son has put linux on my computer and I have no idea how to post my pictures. For that matter, I cannot even figure out how to send pictures from my camera to my computer.  I think we will be going back to windows XP or 7.  Definitely not windows 10.  Anyway, I have a small pecan tree in the back yard that my daughter planted about 3 years ago and this year it was covered with pecans.  I was looking forward to getting my own pecans.  Well as you know we had Harvey hit.  Here where I am we had 21 inches of rain.  After the storm, I took a look at my tree.  Pecans were all still there.  Looked good.  Went out the next morning and there was one pecan left on the tree. One.  So I cursed the squirrel and went back inside.  A couple of hours later I went back out and that little rat had come back for that one pecan.  So I get no pecans from my tree.  I guess it is only fair.  The mockingbirds stole all the figs from my first year crop.  And last summer I had pommegranate tree with about 5 pommegranates on it.  The raccoons got those.  I would find them around the yard.  At least I have well fed wildlife.  And this fall I have had so many hummingbirds.  I counted 12 around my feeders last week.  I love my animals.

My babies.

It's been over a year since I lost her.  This is Daisy.  She was born with three strikes against her.  Due to inbreeding, she was born with hip dysplaysia.  I got her when she was around 5 months old.  I had her spayed and she was in so much pain I took her back to the vet.  He watched her walk and told me what was wrong.  After she healed from the spaying, I had her x-rayed.  I was told that I could either do surgery or put her down because she couldn't live like that.  Her hip joint was already at 5 months bone on bone.  So we did the surgery.  It was so bad that the vet had to put a stabilizer bar both inside and outside.  She wore that outside bar for 6 weeks.  She was good when they took it out.  She did well until just before she turned 5.  Then she started having a lot of pain.  When she refused to eat and just looked at me, I knew something was bad wrong.  So at 6:30PM, I called my vet and had him meet me at his office.  He told me it was not going to be good.  I had already made up my mind I would not put her through more surgery.  I didn't have to make that decision.  After the x-rays, he told me she had arthritis in her spine and both hips were gone.  That hurt so bad.  She was a wonderful, wonderful dog.  I held her while he put her to sleep and I cried buckets.  So did he.  And I am crying now.  At least she is at peace and will not hurt anymore.  I love her so much.
